Remember the old job? It WAS good. I remember it was exciting and fun, however, I am good at forgetting the bad bits but I don't think there were many. I got lots of experience in all areas of the marketing mix. Nice bit of jargon there. Significant highlights included the introduction of all the wonderful FSB designer collections, there were so many superstar designers to meet I was blown away., And then there were the exquisite d_line satin stainless steel products - designed by the lovely Knud Holscher, minimal perfection. Oh yes and we double the turnover and I got a big bonus that year. I loved working with the industrial designers and the architects of that time - Jasper Morrison, Alan Tye RDI, Philippe Starck, Dieter Rams, Hans Hollein, and more.Managing the design and implementation of Allgood's new @1 brand was a highlight and great fun working with Michael Thierons and the Conran Group.Implementing the Investors in People accreditation was ok. Perhaps not so much fun but it got done without much fuss. Teaching the managers to appraise their staff effectively was a game-changer. I learnt a lot from that.Then there was developing an uber-effective company customer database that ensured the pipeline business was strong and also helped improve long term relations with a large number of customers and clients which kept us profitable thro. the recession[s].And Allgood is still a great company.

Bought and sold pianos, keyboards, guitars, violins, wind and brass school instruments, percussion and sheet music. Employed all my mates from music school. The cutting of teaching funds by the Thatcher govt for state schools brought the business’s demise. I didn’t adapt to the changes quickly enough, should have moved into adult instruments and electronics- but was having too much fun, n became lazy and complacent. Went back to study business after this episode. Learnt not to do that again.

All the odd numbers on Nightingale Lane & Manchuria Road SW11. The paper-round was completed in 11 minutes 56 seconds. A belated sorry to No. 16 Manchuria Road for chucking your chunk of Sunday newspapers at your front door and waking your barking dog every Sunday morning. But you did have the heaviest papers on the route: The Sunday Times + the Observer + the Mail. They weighed a ton, and you only had a tiny 8 x 2-inch letterbox.
