The DLC is a volunteer-run organization whose mission is to mentor fundraising professionals who are new to the field and to engage them throughout their careers, encouraging their growth into committed, connected leaders of the Chicagoland philanthropic community and beyond. Board member 2010-2015; Finance Chair/ Treasurer 2012-2015.

In a position that was newly-created for a recently established Foundation, responsibilities focused on building the fundraising infrastructure and an institutional culture of philanthropy while securing corporate and foundation funding for the College’s mission to improve the care of surgical patients. Through collaborations with surgeon leaders and program staff, secured major grants in support of the College's research, education, patient safety, quality improvement and volunteerism programs.

Promoted from Director of Grant Programs in September 2006. During my tenure, annual corporate and foundation support grew five-fold. I developed initiatives for external funding and supported the implementation of grant-funded programs. My key accomplishment was helping to secure $500,000 over four years from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (their first grant to an optometry program) to match awards from ten local funders for the Vision of Hope Health Alliance (a public health initiative). My team raised 99% of its stretch fundraising goal of $1.175M in FY08.

Promoted from Senior Development Officer in September 2000. At the U of C, I managed one fundraiser and one development associate to advance foundation and corporate relations activities for the Division of the Biological Sciences, the University of Chicago Hospitals, and the Pritzker School of Medicine. I directly contributed to efforts resulting in fund raising totals of over $10 million from corporate and foundation sources between July 2000 and April 2003. I worked closely with faculty, program staff and administrators to identify and secure funding for institutional priorities, and also collaborated with the Principal Gifts team on the solicitation of high-level donors. I served on the office’s Mission Statement, Prospect Management, and Information Management Committees.
