I launched a predominantly remote commercial credit underwriting consulting business enabling all clients to profitably exceed growth goals, standardize underwriting, reduce policy exceptions, strengthen loan policy, risk rate loans, and streamline line of credit renewals. One client's portfolio grew by from $2 million to $50 million in four years while another's policy exceptions and documentation errors reduced 33% in two years.

I was originally hired as a consultant to assist in the reorganization of Centreville Bank's commericial lending area. After three months, I joined the bank as a part-time, primarily remote Commercial Credit Manager. Growth mushroomed, the department received accolades during exams, one comprehensive and cohesive commercial loan policy was approved by Board of Directors, junior analysts and lending associates were hired and trained, standardized underwriting practices were implemented, more complex C&I and CRE credit requests were approved, and risk rating loans was broadened and consistent.

I was initially hired to only train the Small Business Lending staff. Within two months, I was asked to manage and oversee the underwriting and analysis of all Small Business Lending to include SBA loans. I was promoted, given lending authority, trained staff, and opened up the Small Business Lending Department to larger loans all while maintaining an acceptable turn around time yet maximizing customer service while maintaining minimal risk. Staff was added, the underwriting process was streamlined, loan growth goals were exceeded, audits were clean, and loan policy exceptions reduced by nearly 25%.

Hired, trained, and supervised staff of five employees. Developed and analyzed all types of credit information pertaining to diverse types of loans. Prepared and presented credit plans to other bank officers or committees. Monitored commercial banking collateral files. Oversaw the bank’s financial statement tickler computer program. Performed special projects associated with Federal and State regulatory requirements.
