Software engineer specializing in artificial intelligence. I have worked on several different projects within Synopsys, offering strategy and implementation of AI technology. As a senior AI engineer and technical team lead, I worked on a Department of Defense project developing a new microarchitecture designed to be exploited for efficient execution of AI algorithms on the IBM cyclops supercomputers. I worked closely with customers and hardware engineers in this development process, leading the only team of software engineers on the project. Before this project I also worked as an AI strategist and advisor to upper management. I created prototype AI solutions for a new branch of the company to showcase AI capabilities and possibilities to a potential acquisition partner.

Worked at Intel in the artificial intelligence product group (AIPG) working on the Movidius Neural Compute Stick (​https://software.intel.com/en-us/neural-compute-stick​). I developed an extensive automated test suite that used neural networks of varying architectures to test the Movidius Stick. I was tasked with continually improving and maintaining this testing system. The job involved balancing requirements and deadlines from international groups.

Worked in a behavioral neuroscience lab, under the department chair, while pursuing my MS in computer science. My duties included writing scripts to analyze spike and LFP data recorded from electrodes surgically implanted into rats. This gave me in depth exposure to cutting edge neuroscience research, which evolved into my MS and PhD AI project.

As a software developer at Intel I helped develop a massive Python test suite for SSDs. The test system was highly object oriented, and my work included managing test projects of my own, building tests with other groups of engineers, and interfacing with an execution and debug team, all in an agile environment. Much of the work required me to learn the hardware behind the SSDs we were testing.

As the Lead QA Engineer, I was responsible for all aspects of software testing for many web-based applications on an 11 person agile development team, including delegation and personnel management. My tasks included designing and developing an automated testing framework for several projects in C#, using Selenium and Jenkins.

Worked for this startup software company as a Senior QA Engineer. I built a QA infrastructure up from nothing, including deciding which technologies our team should use, developing a testing and development plan, and documenting and covering three entirely separate systems with a sustainable, maintainable test system. My tasks included setup of a CI system using Jenkins, creating and managing an automated testing suite (cucumber, protractor, selenium), and working with developers to build a web application and massive data pipeline.

Worked for a semiconductor equipment company as a software engineer. I developed code for controlling and maintaining semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Some of the coding included scheduling for machinery, managing sensors, cameras, pumps and liquid concentrations, and data management of the system. Regular maintenance and field interaction with tools and customers were required.

Worked for Ueli Grossniklous' research lab in Zurich Switzerland on a team of four bioinformaticians, and for Eric Selker’s microbiology lab at University of Oregon. Tasks included using AI to analyze research data, and writing specific programs for individual researchers. Projects included constructing gene networks, and annotating and collecting gene ontology information for Mimulus Guttatus, http://www.uzh.ch/botinst​.

Worked at the primate center and biomedical engineering department doing biology lab work (PCRs) and writing programs to interface with lab machinery. Specifically, I developed software to collect and use data from a microscopic camera that detects changes in individual molecules and determines effectiveness of pharmaceuticals on cancerous protein pathways.

Employed by this startup secondporch.com (Acquired by HomeAway) in Portland. I was responsible for debugging and Q/A, including front end application and database bugs, and developed automated testing of the website using Ruby, Java, selenium and Cucumber, all in an agile environment.

Helped launch a new software product at this 12 employee startup software company, working alongside the head programming engineer as a Q/A technician.
