As Head of the Port of Saldanha Infrastructure Department, I am responsible for Port Engineering, Technical and Maintenance Support, Project Development and Project Execution. Key roles include spearheading the Port Expansion Growth Strategy that will see the design and construction of new port berth infrastructure in excess of R10Bn, over the next 5 years, to accommodate Iron ore expansion needs, reconfiguration of Oil and Gas Terminal, and additional multipurpose terminal berth. I am also leading the developing Smart Port Technologies, in particular, the use of Aerial Drones for Asset Inspections, Topographic Surveys and Construction Progress Monitoring.

As Senior Engineer I was responsible for Leading Asset Maintenance and Management Procedures, Budgeting and Policies, Project Development, Design and Execution as the client representative, with stakeholder engagement playing a crucial role in progressing the required technical services and development initiatives.Notable Port projects include overseeing the development and implementation of scour rock for the Bulk Iron Ore Berth Jetty, new Stormwater Bulk Channel for the Offshore Supply Base and the development and design of a Continuously Reinforced Concrete Road.

As a Candidate Engineer, I was primarily involved with project management and execution of new port infrastructure.Key initiatives included the Security Upgrade for the Port of East London, comprising of Fencing, ICT Network Upgrade, Access Control, CCTV Surveillance and port lighting to a value of over R100m rand, as well as being involved with the design, physical model testing and construction of the West Bank Foreshore revetment rehabilitation (Armour Rock).
