I am a retired U.S. Navy Commander. My military career focus was in Operations and Planning. I have worked with multi-national and joint military organizations to plan and execute a variety of complex warfare operations. As Operations Officer for Commander, Naval Forces Japan, I received a rare personal award from RADM Koda, Japan Maritime Self Defense Force Operations, for contributions as a liaison officer. I also was very involved with Navy training programs during my tours as afloat training officer, Surface Warfare Officers School and Company Officer/Instructor at United States Naval Academy. I am a combat veteran with a Navy commendation for valor in combat. I leveraged my training experience from the military into a career in education. I have a strong belief that education and training are essential to the efficient and effective operation of any organization, civilian or military; business or school systems. I have extensive experience in curriculum development and execution in public and private schools; including two years as the Director of Curriculum for the NJROTC program (civilian position).In my employment history (both military and civilian careers), I have demonstrated collaborative team building and project management expertise during deployment preparations, managing shipboard overalls, complex inspection preparations, curriculum reviews and alignment, equipment test and evaluation... etc. I completed two master’s degrees. One in Education during active duty. The other in Environmental Science while serving as the Director of Curriculum for NJROTC. My personal interests are in all sports, cycling, hiking, fly fishing, travel, music and local environmental issues. Currently a regular volunteer with the Wolf River Conservancy.
