I was the head of department for the Garrison Transport Support Unit (OC TSU) in the role of Business Manager/Defence Transport Manager.• Managed a diverse team of 60 personnel (drivers, administrative staff and management) and all HR requirements devolved from our centralised HR Department.• Lead the team delivering transport support (services, vehicles and maintenance) to all Ministry of Defence units and locations in Northern Ireland.• Ensuring that the TSU managed and maintained over 300 vehicles (65% of all vehicles in NI) across Northern Ireland.• Responsible for ensuring that leased fleet vehicles were being utilised to ensure value for money against leased costs.• Ensuring the services, the TSU provide were fully compliant with current MoD policies, specifically the Defence Road Transport Policy Document. • Ensure that the TSU provided high quality key services to a varied and demanding collection of Customers;o With Driver Services Executive transport for high profile staff and visitors. Normal none executive transport to meetings and airports. Multi-passenger services (Coaches) within NI, ROI, GB and Europe.o Regional Pool Vehicles – provision of Self Drive Vehicles from a regional pooled fleet of cars, MPVs, Minibuses, Vans and Pantech to customers.o Rental Vehicles – provision of self-drive rental vehicles in NI, GB and Europe.• Subject Matter Expert for my Line Manager on transport and entitlement.• Monitoring vehicle usage using on board Telematics and managing driving behaviour across Northern Ireland.• Provide guidance and direction too departments and drivers identified speeding and deliver Road Safety presentations similar to the national speed awareness course.• Implemented a number of Transport Management Information Systems (MIS) to the TSU including Roadrunner Professional (Commercial Off the Shelf) in the TSU and Phoenix Booking System, Fleet Care Online and Clarity (Bespoke) to all units in NI.
