Competition, in the form of non-traditional fintech players, is very real. As disruption in the sector continues, demographic shifts are fueling new expectations from customers. Combine this with challenges such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and automation, and the one thing that is certain is that the future of banking lies in technology. I have devoted my career to reducing and eliminating technical debt, increasing business agility, and adopting new technologies to drive the industry forward. In my current leadership role, I lead all technology implementation and execution for Union Bank, a firm with more than $5B in annual revenue. Inspired by transformative change, I innovated an all-digital banking solution. This entailed the rollout of more than 185 next-gen self-service banking kiosks, an effort that drove cost savings while increasing customer deposits. I further ensured that all new technology solutions complied with Federal Reserve Board (FRB) and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) regulations, a mission-critical necessity.
