I am a Research Associate at the University of Manitoba (UM) and currently hold a role as a Project Coordinator for the Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS). Since 2017, I have been a lead coordinator for 2 multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional research projects focused on bay-wide environmental systems analysis in Hudson Bay and Northern Manitoba. I work with and coordinate teams of researchers from academic, industry, and government backgrounds to help them achieve both their individual goals, and the overall objectives of the project. My role involves coordinating meetings, report drafting and review, timeline and deliverables management, communication between project researchers, leads, and all other stakeholders, project finance reporting, and summary presentations, among other daily tasks. I completed my PhD. at the University of Manitoba in 2018. As an archaeological anthropologist, my research focused on non-invasive investigative approaches to Arctic cultural heritage and prehistory through the use of geophysics and remote sensing. This experience provided me with a well-rounded understanding of project management, as well as the importance of team building and collaboration to achieve successful outcomes. During my four-year degree, I had to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and setbacks in both the lab and in the field, learn to apply new research methods and theories to meet new objectives, and become proficient in the use and maintenance of instruments that better suited the aims of my changing research goals. I completed an M.A. in 2013 where I analyzed an extensive collection of lithic (i.e. stone tool) debitage from a pre-contact Arctic population to provide objective insight into our understanding of Late Dorset technological organization and mobility. During this time, I learned how to collect and archive large datasets (over 7000 specimens), handle and manage lab collections, and maintain a clear objective for the increasingly arduous task at hand. This time helped me to develop my goal-oriented work ethic, where setting self-imposed deadlines for tasks, and having clear and concise instructions for the completion of those tasks became extremely important to achieving my goals.
