About David Langat

David is an experienced manager with over 25 years in the Tea industry; tea planting, tea growing, tea manufacturing, tea marketing and project management. David has been through the installation and commissioning of new plant machinery in the tea factories from 1994 including Continuous fermenting Units (CFUs), Boilers in 2006 and 2009 amongst others.He got trained as an internal auditor for Unilever Tea Kenya and participated in the achievement of Unilever audits and certification (Quality Assurance-QA, Safety, Health and Environment-SHE) and Rain Forest (RA) audit and certification by the company.David was in a team that developed a working operational manual for the company called Good Agricultural practices –GAP with the support of a team from Unilever centre UK.He managed to drive the Change initiatives and embedding the Performance culture in the company. This would ensure the profitability and sustainability of the business.David participated actively in the CBA negotiation, carried out job description and evaluation projects for Unilever Tea Kenya.He work in the sales and marketing arm of the company and managed to help the company bridge the gap between production and consumers.David is currently aspiring passionately to help other tea companies that are passionately driving their growth agenda to a new level with innovation and new discoveries at the core of their vision.Key in all this is to achieve the highest professional standards and offer the best to an organization in ensuring that the organization's goals and objectives are achieved.

This enabled me to acquire several skills e.g ability to work with different bosses, ability to adapt to changes and different environments. I have managed to lead teams working on various company strategies, lead a job evaluation and rationalization exercise for factory staff, restructuring and redeployment of staff, Upgrade and machinery improvements in factories, rationalization of factories and capacity utilization, Training of factory employees, influencing & mobilizing staff and employees to adapt new and modern methods. Lead in introduction of HACCP and Traceability systems when it was introduced in the company. I was also fortunate enough to roll out standardized tea tasting system in all factories with use of standardized milk and deionized water. I managed budgeting, financial controls and profitability of the units. I participated in projects to shape and align company strategies and its visibility in the global Unilever map.
