Project Cost Engineer - Bruce Area Development, BP, GlasgowResponsible to oversee all cost expenditure and contract administration of the major Detail Design and Procurement Contract for PUQ Topsides on the Bruce Area Development Project at Glasgow, Scotland.As the sole Cost Engineering representative for BP, held responsibility to control and monitor all activities of Brown and Root’s Cost Engineering group (peaked at seven persons) throughout the full duration. The project was for the design of two 8000 tonne production / process / utilities modules, coupled with a 2500 tonne accommodation module, and procurement of some 300 packages of equipment and other bulk materials. This was completed at a cost of Sterling £199 Million overall with the design segment consisting of some 1.75 million man-hours.Other duties undertaken were the preparation of contractual correspondence, analysis of all weekly and monthly cost reports, and review and evaluation of variation orders.

Project Quantity Surveyor, Scottish Office, EdinburghEngaged for all commercial responsibilities of the main contractor, employed by the Scottish Office (Historic Buildings & Monuments), for the construction of a 164 metre long tunnel underneath Edinburgh Castle. This prestigious contract covered many facets of construction and my brief was to ensure that suitable levels of financial recompense were gained throughout the period. The contract was successfully completed at a cost of Sterling £2.4 Million.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Head Office Quantity Surveyor, SA-PKT Nine Villages Project, Ministry of Interior, RiyadhEngaged to redress a dearth of suitable documentation in respect of numerous variations in work scope on the SA-PKT Nine Villages Project for the Ministry of Interior at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project (total value US Dollars 352 Million) was for the construction of nine separate villages of varying size at strategic locations in the Kingdom. These villages included provision for a total of 725 one storey villas, together with other public buildings such as Standby Power Stations, Administration Buildings, Mosques, First Aid and Fire Stations, Sports facilities etc. Other duties executed included preparation of contractual correspondence, analysis and evaluation of sub-contractors’ variation requests, and general liaison on project management matters.

Thorp Project, British Nuclear Fuels, Sellafield.

Site Quantity Surveyor – THORP Project, British Nuclear Fuels, Sellafield.Engaged as a freelance, to assist in the preparation of final measurement and accounts on THORP Project for British Nuclear Fuels Ltd, Sellafield, Duties were to agree and conclude final measurement / accounts / variations in advance of construction. This information was prepared into numerous cost packages, and later used to assess interim valuations, payments and progress measurements. The contract, valued at Sterling £138 Million, consisted of heavily reinforced concrete chambers / cells and outside perimeter structures together with ancillary architectural finishes.

Yanbu, Saudi Arabia

Project Cost Engineer / Quantity Surveyor, Marine Facilities, Petromin, YanbuHeld overall responsibility for post contract duties on Marine Facilities for Petromin’s Yanbu Domestic Refinery (0.25 bbls per day), Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.The project consisted of the construction of four liquid product berths (up to 60,000dwt) and an offshore deballast treatment facility. Also included in the works were extensive metering facilities controlled by a fully computerised DCS system for eleven products. Responsible, with support from two assistants, for controlling all matters relating to Project Management, Contract administration, Progress assessments, analysis and evaluation of Variation orders, Cost / Progress reporting, and Claim analysis. Overall project value was US Dollars 250 Million.
