David is an experienced family and relationship lawyer who has practised in Australia and in the UK. He provides advice and representation to clients on all aspects of family and relationship law, both within Australia and internationally.After initially qualifying and working in Australia as a barrister and solicitor, David moved to London where he gained broad experience working for an international family law firm. David has represented clients from across the world, many of whom are Australian or British expats. David's experience also includes working for the preeminent family law firm in Jersey (Channel Islands), where he gained valuable experience dealing with the financial complexities of offshore jurisdictions.David is dual qualified as a solicitor of England & Wales and is therefore able to advise clients on both Australian and English family law issues.

David is Head of the Thrings Family Law team in London. David is highly experienced in advising and representing clients on all aspects of divorce and family law; both in England & Wales and internationally.David has an impressive background of local and international experience. He has worked for a niche London-based international family law firm and in Jersey managing the island’s pre-eminent family law team. David also has extensive experience in child protection law, appearing on behalf of English local authorities who are responsible for safeguarding children. Having commenced his legal career as a barrister and solicitor in Australia, he represents many Australian expats and is often instructed as an expert witness to advise on English and Australian family law issues. The types of cases that David has experience in are:•Divorce matters; including advising clients who may have a choice of jurisdiction of where they can initiate their case;•Financial settlement on divorce where assets are located in England & Wales and abroad;•Pre-nuptial, post-nuptial and cohabitation agreements;•Acting for parents attempting to obtain the leave of the Court to remove their children from the jurisdiction to live in another country;•Hague Convention cases ensuring children that have been wrongfully removed from their home country are returned; and•Advising same sex couples on all issues relating to relationship breakdown; including matters relating to children.David is able to relate to all types of issues that a client may face when they are separating from their spouse or partner. He has a very client focussed approach. He understands that each client has unique and differing needs.David is a collaborative lawyer and he presents clients with a variety of methods for resolving their matter.
