In my role as Fieldworker, I am dedicated to understanding the experiences and needs of male s3x workers in Rotterdam. My responsibilities include conducting on- and offline fieldwork, analyzing trends and developments, and leading workshops for social workers and various organizations. My mission is centered around advocating for the decriminalization and de-stigmatization of s3x work. In pursuit of this goal, I actively organize and develop initiatives at Door2Door, an information and service center for and by s3x workers.

I assist Dr. Carl Bonner-Thompson, Assistant Professor of Urban (In)justice in the Human Geography and Spatial Planning Department at Utrecht University. His research critically engages with urban geographies through feminist and queer frameworks, investigating how economic, social, and digital conditions co-constitute vulnerabilities and care. He further examines how marginalized communities actively negotiate and resist these dynamics within their urban environments.

The non-profit organization Sexmatters is committed to more equality around gender and sexuality. We examine these subjects from an intersectional perspective by discussing how other aspects of our identity (i.e., age, class, ethnicity) interact and shape our lived experiences. As a workshop leader, I facilitate an interactive conversation where people are challenged to think about their assumptions and blind spots. In this role, I developed didactic competencies, learned to make complex subjects accessible, and cultivated cultural sensitivity.

During Rotterdam Pride, I was responsible for the Pride Conference at the Kunsthal. At this four-day event, topics of importance to the queer community were discussed (i.e., chosen family, trans healthcare, transformative justice, and intersectional activism). To compile the program, I researched a variety of topics and conducted focus groups with key figures in the queer community. In the remaining months, I selected and contacted speakers, had preliminary interviews, and provided the moderators with in-depth topic guides. Working at Rotterdam Pride allowed me to gain experience developing knowledge through transdisciplinary collaborations and further deepen my academic research skills.

At ARKET, I gained more experience leading a team of over 70 people. Opening the first store in the Netherlands allowed me to understand what it takes to build a brand and a team. During this process, I shaped myself into the best version of Departement Manager/Assistant Store Manager possible — I developed training tools for new colleagues, learned to give structural feedback, and conducted evaluation talks.

As a Department Manager, I worked closely with the Store Manager and Visual Merchandisers and learned to handle problems independently. My daily tasks were opening and closing the store and ensuring everything ran smoothly in my department.

At Wagamama, I gained excellent organizational and teamwork skills. As a Team Leader, I handled difficult situations, kept an overview, and reported to the manager. As a waiter, I learned to give excellent customer service while working under pressure.
