I have extensive experience in the learning and skills sector, gained through 20 years working for the FE sector and over the past 7 years by engaging with the sector through interim management and direct consultancy. My experiences are current and hands-on ensuring that my practices are relevant and that I have an up to date understanding and application of criteria such as curriculum modeling, funding regulations and inspection. I am experienced in change management and restructure, providing both support to senior management in developing a structure that will meet the business needs and supporting staff through a period of change whilst maintaining delivery. The roles I have undertaken have required me to work at strategic and operational levels, including direct staff management, with teams of up to 40; and representation of the organisation at external events including provider networks and contractual arrangements with the Skills Funding Agency (LSC). As an interim manager I have had the opportunity to experience both full Ofsted inspections and Annual Monitoring Visits at a number of colleges/providers, which has provided me with the opportunity to experience and share best practice in inspection preparation.Specialties:Vocational curriculum development (including apprenticeships)Quality Assurance systems for various awarding bodies including BTEC, C&G, EAL, IMI and CITBEmployer engagementChange ManagementTeam Leadership and Development through Coaching and MentoringNetworking and Partnership BuildingObservation and Staff Development Self-assessment and preparation for inspectionData analysis to improve performance

Interim Director Of TechnologyCarshalton College Sep 2014 - Jul 2015Interim Director of Technology (construction and engineering) at Carshalton College to support the implementation of Study Programmes. This involved embedding Maths and English into their curriculum, including supporting vocational tutors to develop Maths and English skills with the long term aim of them being able to deliver functional skills and potentially GCSE’s.One strategy to successfully develop Study Programmes was to empower vocational areas to take responsibility for Maths and English delivery included exploration of bridging qualifications to support learners from level 2 functional skill onto a GCSE programme .Another aspect of the assignment was to improve employer engagement to enable the department to meet the need for meaningful work experience as part of the Study Programme. Progress was made by firstly dispelling health and safety concerns regarding young people working in this sector by engaging Laing O’Rourke’s regional labour manager to speak to curriculum teams. Networks were further developed through contact with existing employers who sent apprentices to the college.I also led on a Teach Too project involving engaging motor sports employers to participate in the delivery of sector specific Maths. This project enabled me to share best practice in both employer engagement and to explore the opportunities for employers to teach Maths, which has huge potential with regards study programmes. The Role also involved overseeing the building of a new £9.5m Technology block for building services, construction and motor vehicle provision. -
