Currently working at the Russian School of Mathematics helping them transition to a microservices architecture. Prior to that I worked at Worldpay (FIS) as part of a small team extracting microservices from a monolithic codebase and moving them to the cloud. These microservices include high volume/high availability OLTP services as well as asynchronous batch jobs. Tech stack is Java/Spring, Kubernetes (OCP), Cassandra, Postgresql, Kafka, Redis. Responsible for all phases of the process: develop (TDD), test, release, and operate.Prior to that I worked at a startup (Jana Mobile) where I was in charge of a back end service that handled high volume SMS message and Mobile account recharge transactions with third party vendors. This involved communicating with the vendors and writing the code for a variety of api integrations with those vendors, creating in-house web tools for managing our product offerings and vendor accounting, maintaining a Statsd-Graphite-Grafana pipeline to monitor operations and a Kafka-Snowflake analytics pipeline. Tools used included Github, Jenkins, Python, Flask, Cassandra, Kafka, Snowflake, Statsd, Graphite, Grafana, javascript, HTML. For 12 years prior to that I worked as an educator teaching and developing curriculum in public and private high schools in the subjects of math, computer science, chemistry, and engineering and design. As a teacher I developed interactive software tools and simulations that helped my students learn. I have found that the deepest learning comes from creating the tools and simulations, not from just using them. As an educator my ultimate goal is to help enable all learners to engage in such acts of creation. Along the way, I would like to contribute to the evolving craft of software development.
