Manage the offices of Occupational/Environmental Health Safety and Security operations as well as Emergency Preparedness/Management. Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations and in meeting applicable Joint Commission accredidation standards. Chair the Emergency Management Committee of the Environment of Care as wells as the Environmental Safety Committee, Hazardous Materials Committee and Laser Safety Committee. Serve as the organizations Laser Safety Officer. Oversee the organzations overall Environment of Care and provide reports to the Board of Trustees as well as senior leadership.

Responsible for the oversight of a small staff and the office operations necessary in providing code consulting services along the front range of Colorado. Our principal focus was on providing plan review services of construction documents/specifications to help ensure compliance with the International Building and Fire Code documents. We also specialized in working with clients who had existing facilities and were in need of technical advice in meeting requirements of the International Codes and their related standards.

I was responsible for the oversight of five program management areas (Safety/Security/Media/PBX-ADC/ and Facilities Development. I was responsible for the construction/development of over 30 million dollars of construction related activities including the largest parking structure in the City of Colorado Springs. This included a time in the organization witnessing the largest growth in its one hundred year history.

I was responsible for the management of the Colorado Springs Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division which included the Fire Investigation, Fire Code Administration and the Hazardous Materials Code Enforcement sections as well as the Senior Fire Protection Engineer and associated clerical staff. I was responsible for the overall coordination and management of these areas. I also coordinated and developed strategies for solutions to sensitive and complex fire/life safety issues and new ordinances and regulations. I also coordinated the activities of the Division during their involvement at significant, large-scale fire incidents. I was responsible for the formulation and administration of the annual budget for the Division.

I was responsible for examining plans and conducting inspections on new commercial and residential construction projects for code compliance while consulting with architects, contractors and engineers to clarify expected performance and ultimate outcomes.

I was responsible for subcontracting operations for general contractors engaged primarily in new construction activities. I was responsible for the design and installation of new heating/cooling and ventilation systems; supervised and trained sixteen employees in equipment installation, sheet metal fabrications, and installation activities. My administrative duties included general client relations, ordering and purchasing inventory and stock control, record keeping, cost/cash flow management, and general administration of system design, installation and service operations.
