Led NQSC’s investigative function. Led major investigations to ensure they are scoped appropriately to reflect strategic direction of NQSC, taking into consideration requirement to achieve strong regulatory outcomes that will deter disability services providers from engaging in poor conduct, especially in circumstances where such conduct results in poor outcomes for participants of National Disability Insurance Scheme. Led national team responsible for delivering the NQSC’s tailored COVID-19 regulatory response. Responsible for delivery of NQSC’s balanced regulatory strategy, with focus on measured responses aimed at achieving compliance and continued delivery of supports and services to participants in first instance. Where this is unachievable, oversee taking of appropriate regulatory action designed to safeguard participants and communicate NQSC’s expectations to providers. Led development and implementation of the QBCC’s Major Investigations strategy, ensuring alignment with the QBCC’s over-arching Strategic Plan, focusing on the identification of matters that present the greatest risk of harm to the building and construction industry, provided opportunities to send strong regulatory messages, delivered remedial outcomes to aggrieved parties and tested the law. Represented the QBCC and promoted its role at stakeholder engagement events, making presentations to licensees and provided education about illegal phoenixing and annual financial reporting requirements. Led the QBCC’s responsibility for ensuring the financial sustainability of the building and construction industry. Provided briefings to senior management regarding proposed suspensions of licensees undertaking significant infrastructure projects, many of which had the potential to have significant financial, political and reputational ramifications.

ASIC’s representative in Commonwealth multi-agency taskforce responsible for assessment of allegations concerning fraud, official corruption and foreign bribery offences. Provided advice to FAC Centre members regarding issues involving conduct that may contravene criminal and/or civil provisions of the Corporations Act 2001 and identified and developed investigative strategies designed to gather evidence and substantiate these contraventions. Provided advice to Commonwealth departments aimed at identifying and rectifying areas of fraud vulnerability with a view to minimising financial and reputational risks.

Conducted complex investigations into allegations made against medical practitioners that constituted breaches of the Health Practitioners (Professional Standards) Act and Medical Practitioners Registration Act. Project managed over 120 concurrent investigations located throughout Queensland. Provided in-house training to forensic and insolvency staff regarding investigative methodologies and management eg. offence elementisation, evidence matrices, legislative interpretation, exhibit management and brief of evidence preparation.
