I am a partner in the environmental practice group of Schiff Hardin LLP in Chicago, IL. For over a decade, I have represented and counseled clients throughout the energy, utility and manufacturing sectors. I have taken a particular interest helping clients navigate through the complex and always changing regulatory environment under the Clean Air Act. I understand the complexity inherent in regulatory compliance and believe that understanding the technical aspects of my clients' industry and business needs provides the best mechanism to tackle complex environmental issues.I regularly represent utilities in the coal-fired and oil & gas sectors throughout the country. I have experience defending clients in government and citizen suit New Source Review enforcement actions, as well as negotiating complex settlement agreements under the Clean Air Act. In addition, I regularly assist utility and manufacturing clients secure complex environmental permits and navigate multi-state air regulatory programs.Recent representations have included:- negotiating Clean Air Act New Source Review consent decrees for coal and oil & gas clients with the Environmental Protection Agency- defending Clean Air Act New Source Review enforcement actions against coal-fired power plants and metallurgical industries - air and hazardous materials compliance counseling in the distribution and metallurgical sectors- represented utilities in regulatory, administrative and judicial proceedings before EPA and federal judicial circuits to demonstrate compliance with federal sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide National Ambient Air Quality Standards.In my spare time, I am an avid cyclist and tennis player, and enjoy spending time with my wife and two kids in Chicago.
