Working alongside Richard Muruve, CEO and Daniel Muruve, MD and CMO at Arch Biopartners, we are developing the regulatory strategy and clinical development of the novel immunomodulator, LSALT peptide for the prevention of COVID-19-related complications, including ARDS, AKI, cardiomyopathies, acute liver injury, coagulopathies, and all-cause mortality. We have developed a Phase 2 protocol (NCT04402957) and the associated ICF and IB, for submission and acknowledgment of a CTA in Canada and IND in the US - all within 3 months. The study successfully completed in April 2021. We are now initiating a study in preventing acute kidney injury following cardiac surgery (NCT05879432) and entered our first 2 patients in March 2024.

A rare disease, aHUS has resulted in 80% acute kidney failure and 40% mortality in a largely pediatric population. Alexion Pharmaceuticals is devoted to attenuating aHUS and other rare diseases and I was, along with the MSL team, proud to be part of this mission. MSLs are the key teachers of aHUS in raising awareness on the benefits of early diagnosis and intervention of aHUS.
