Combustion Engineer - development of Roof Top Unit (RTU) furnace systems and controls.

Part of a core team of Applied R&D engineers in Pentair's NPD Foodservice group. The team's purpose was to take foodservice ideas from concept to manufacturable reality.

Designed and built a thermal research laboratory for EPA testing of the GARN® wood-fired hydronic heater. This included building a dilution tunnel for particulate research and thermocouple networks for heat exchanger and unit efficiency research.Aided in development and numerical analysis of different heat exchanger configurations for improved efficiency of the heat transfer process.Gained working experience of the product development process in a small company with capital restraints. Successfully helped redesign the current unit to save 10% in production costs while increasing efficiency and decreasing emissions.

Successfully developed, designed, and modeled an ammo handling test stand for field testing ballistic performance of critical components for the NLOS-C project.Assisted in successfully redesigning and testing Gun Shield and classified ballistic components.Gained working knowledge of purchasing and inventory, the design and prototyping process, and working with Pro/E models in large assemblies and in vaults.

Drafted numerous HVAC and plumbing installations including designs for the University of Minnesota Armory and Moos Research Towers; had to comply with strict University building guidelines.Developed Lowest Life Cycle Cost estimator for mechanical equipment installations utilizing NIST energy projections and Microsoft Excel programming.Assisted in standardization of Verification Test Procedures and System Readiness Checklists for Commissioning/Retro Commissioning division. This process stressed deductive reasoning and mechanical competency working, in detail, with: Building Automation System (BAS) control drawings, design intent documents, mechanical schedules, and mechanical floor plans.
