I have 35 years of diverse business experience, including 25 years in senior management positions. I have primarily worked in the food & beverage, alcohol and cannabis industries. My management experience spans a broad range of functional areas, including sales, marketing, export, finance, HR, IT, government relations & media relations. I have worked at large multi-national corporations (Molson-Coors & Saputo), co-operatives (Dairyland & Earth's Own), a not-for-profit (CWSAA) and a start-up (Avant Brands Inc.). Four of the companies that I have worked for were publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), during my work tenure. From January 2018 to July 2024, I worked at Avant Brands Inc. (TSX: ‘AVNT’), a Canadian cannabis company focused on premium indoor cannabis. In September 2023, the Globe & Mail ranked Avant 49th on its list of the Top 425 fastest growing companies in Canada. We were also proud to be one of the few Canadian cannabis companies that consistently achieved positive cash flow from operations. As Avant’s COO I worked on a diverse range of initiatives (e.g. sales, marketing, HR, IT, operations, regulatory). I led the company’s international initiatives, signing 16 supply agreements across key export markets (Israel, Australia, Germany, EU). From August 2021 to July 2024 we made 43 export shipments of cannabis flower, with an aggregate value of $23 million. Moreover, we regularly set new quarterly sales records for exports (e.g. $3.7 million in Q2-24). After trademarking BLK MKT in Canada, and other key cannabis markets, I executed a series of international trademark licensing agreements, to drive incremental cash flows and build a global brand. I also held the Health Canada Responsible Person designation at all five of Avant’s licensed facilities.I hold a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing, Honours) and MBA (Finance) from U.B.C. (Vancouver). I also completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 Program. In my free time, I’m a fitness enthusiast who enjoys weight lifting, running, hiking, cycling, soccer, swimming and skiing. I have completed 22 full marathons, including the 2011 Boston Marathon.
