Responsible for managing a department of 17 GIS professionals tasked with updating/maintaining OUC's water distribution, electric distribution, and electric transmission GIS data layers. Manage a diverse group of GIS Analysts, Technicians, System Administrators, and Programmers to support the various needs of the Water and Electric Departments at OUC including system integration, script and application development, spatial analysis, data development, cartographic production, and modeling. Guide the development of geospatial technology and educate staff as to the benefits of GIS and develop ways to expand its use in the organization.

Within the GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Department, managed projects, supervised staff, and ensured that client expectations were met or exceeded. Heavily involved in all aspects of a project life cycle including business development, writing proposals, verbal presentations, resource allocation, scheduling, budget management, and client management. Other aspects of this position included:• Responsible and accountable for the coordinated management of multiple related projects directed toward strategic business and other organizational objectives. • Build credibility, establish rapport, and maintain communication with internal and client stakeholders at multiple levels.• Daily communications with clients to ensure needs were being met. • Define and initiate projects and manage cost, schedule, and performance.• Coach, mentor and lead personnel within a technical team environment. • Present periodic status reports to management on the current program, future opportunities and client issues.• Responsible for quality assurance on all projects• Develop standard operating procedures for projects and provide staff and client training.• Daily use ESRI ArcGIS suite of products and MS Office suite.

Responsible for coordinating all GIS (Geographic Information System) activities in the County while managing and assisting a staff of GIS Programmer/Analysts. Duties and responsibilities included:• Provide internal and Public client support.• Develop and implement the department budget annually.• Perform project management on internal and external projects.• Coordinate inter-governmental activities with six municipalities.• Develop desktop and internet applications using various programming languages.• Provide training to staff and municipalities.• Perform internal needs assessments to ensure staff computing needs are being met.

Provided project management on numerous GIS mapping, consulting, and training projects for governmental and commercial clients throughout the southeast. Performed marketing of firm’s GIS capabilities to prospective clients, developed proposal documents, and performed oral presentations. Involved in all aspects of GIS related projects including proposal and scope development, presentations, scheduling, budgeting, staff delegation, and hands-on project work.
