My current role sees me working with internal stakeholders, in a capacity which aims to empower the regional sales force. The role includes managing the regional sales pipeline, contract and opportunity registers and other various supportive commercial functions. Assessing and responding to large volume RFQ/RFIs and other methods of procurement is a key function within the role, and often service offerings include a combination of shipping and land-based products and services. Such services may include technical services through our EPCs, various modes of 3rd party transport and auxiliary services, as well other supply chain offerings, such as digital integration and enhanced visibility.WalWil's services are evolving, and this role continues to evolve with the business, as new products and services are discussed, investigated and potentially implemented. In this way maintaining and developing external customer and industry relationships remain vital.

Moving back home to Australia, I transitioned into a similarly shipping focused role, with my portfolio being the NSW and SA customer base. Again, working with a range of OEMs, cargo owners & freight forwarders, my role was to work with customers to find suitable shipping options for their requirements. As per previous roles, I worked across several cargo segments, including but not limited to: agricultural, mining and construction, automotive, military and various breakbulk goods. Key highlights were large inducement projects into Adelaide and Bell Bay.

Relocating to the United Kingdom, this role (located in Southampton) offered me the opportunity to work closely with the customer base within the UK and Ireland, with a focus on inbound and outbound shipping in the region. Working with shippers, OEMs and freight forwarders of all sizes allowed me great understanding of the challenges and needs of UK based customers, specifically in the beginning phase of their supply chain.Representing the Europe Commercial team at major industry trade exhibitions such as Breakbulk Europe in Germany and Belgium was a highlight.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen has long had ambitions to support its customers, managing complexity and providing services which improve efficiency within the supply chain. This role allowed me to work intimately with our customer base and collaboratively create solutions, unique to their requirements. Working closely with internal stakeholders across the business on RFQ/RFI etc submissions was also a key function of the role.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is traditionally a shipping business, but over the years has developed into much more of a full-scale logistics provider. This position was designed with the intention of working closely with current and new customer base, offering support with inland distribution and technical services which were offered by the local business. Scope of services varied heavily customer to customer, which allowed me to interact closely and learn foundational knowledge about all the key WalWil products and services.

Transitioning into my first leadership role, this role allowed my first taste of managing a team whilst also being accountable for department deadlines and task allocation/scheduling. Overseeing the department responsible for warehouse activity, all methods of cartage and company drivers was complex in nature, but taught me valuable lessons in time management, delegation and managing team culture. Key successes including overseeing major growth and transition within the warehouse and transport team, as well as personal mentorship of several young future leaders who have now since gone onto more senior positions.

Beginning my career in logistics. my role was working within the warehouse team, handling all manner of cargoes including air freight, sea freight (LCL / FCL / FAK) and warehoused goods. Supporting both the import and export team, this role provided me an excellent understanding of goods at a physical level, and also the complexities which come with cargo handling, transport, and quarantine & customs requirements.
