I stepped down in early 2021 from my SVP role at Cognizant after nearly 12 years in various roles. I am now on permanent disability due to the advanced stage of my Parkinson's Disease which was diagnosed in early 2014.I hope to remain active (and relevant) in some limited capacity as an advisor or board member in the professional services marketplace. More importantly, I am ‘investing’ to the best of my ability my time and energy to participate, contribute and seek advancements in medicine and treatment to slow the progression of Parkinson’sI have been actively involved since early 2021 in a major clinical trial funded by the FDA and AbbVie involving 100+ patients from the US, UK and Australia with Advanced Parkinson’s Disease. The study named ‘ABBV-951’ may result in new, innovative medicines treatments to address the advancing progression and symptoms of Parkinson’s.My involvement in ABBV-951 is thru the Barrow Neurological Institute and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Movement Center based in Phoenix (part of Barrow) which serves as one of the main clinics for the research. We hope and pray every day that clinical trials by AbbVie along with research conducted by other pharmaceutical companies will advance discovery, shared knowledge, insight, learning and eventually new treatments to slow the progression of Parkinson’s Disease in my lifetime!I have benefited professionally and personally from many leaders throughout my career who were willing to guide me, challenge me, coach me and demand excellence everyday. As a result I am better prepared to face the enormous challenge ahead of me in my fight with Parkinson’s the next few years…….Although the list is long and I risk forgetting a name, there are a few notable business colleagues that I consider great friends and mentors who (had) a significant and positive impact on my career over the last 30+ years. They found it worthwhile to invest some of their own valuable time to help me become the best business professional I could be…..Frank D'Souza, Raj Mehta, Manoj Singh, Bob Campbell, Bob Wetzel, John Fox & Gordon Coburn among many othersThank you for everything you did for me as a coach, mentor and friend! I am forever indebted to each of you….!I extend my deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to the thousands of professionals that I have worked with over my nearly 30+ year career. Thank you for helping me strive to be a better partner, advisor, teammate, coach and friend. Please stay in touch!Warm Regards, David Johnson(602) 790-3483
