Early background in hotel management, graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology in 1985. Undertook tourism management training at Rainbow Rooms, Rockefeller Centre, New York; Noga Hilton, Geneva; and Ashford Castle, County Mayo, Ireland.Spent two years with the Doyle Hotel Group from 1986-88 as Food and Beverage Manager and Assistant Manager at the Burlington Hotel, Ireland's largest hotel.During the period 1988-1990 served as Deputy Conference and Banqueting Manager at the 5* Shelbourne Hotel.Appointed Director of Tourism Development International in June 1990, and since that time has managed the destination planning, recreational tourism and marketing/ market research team at Tourism Development International.Has a proven track record of managing tourism assignments on behalf of a wide range of private and public sector clients including Waterford Crystal, Tourism Ireland, Prince Edward Island, Canada, Visit Wales, Cruise Ireland, Guinness, Fáilte Ireland, Waterford City Council, OPW, Bewleys, Irish Tourist Industry Confederation (ITIC), Slane Castle, Trail Kilkenny, Comhaltas, Waterways Ireland, Kylemore Abbey and Gardens and Russborough House.Considered to be a focussed and hospitable person with strong interpersonal skills. Takes pride in the role played by Tourism Development International as a leading tourism destination and product development company.Recently prepared a tourism plan for Bord na Mona’s Lough Boora Discovery Park, and a Feasibility Study for a coastal route/greenway from Wicklow to Greystones.Currently preparing a new Tourism Strategy for Donegal 2021-2025.
