My role within the company is to assist in the continuous improvement of the quality side of the business. This is done by assisting other Quality Inspector's by using my knowledge of a CMM and PC-DMIS to create a number of programs which help assist in improving the inspection process and also to provide them with training which will allow them to use the basic functions of PC-DMIS.At present, there is also work to be done on the calibration system which is currently being used and clarity is required on the goods received inspection process. It is my duty to liase with both the Quality Manager and Quality Engineer to improve and refine these processes.I am also expected to help with various inspection processes where required. These are mainly first off parts or a sample of parts which have been taken from a batch and can vary in complexity. It is also my duty to raise any non-conformances which may occur and notify the correct people of the error in order for an investigation to be conducted in to how the issue has arisen.

Within the company it was my duty to inspect complex components using CMM's and manual measuring equipment. I was also required to assist the planning department with offline PC-DMIS programming when required. I became an important part of the quality team and my main focus quickly became on one section of the shop floor which contained numerous 5-axis machines. The section produced the most complex components made within the factory and I was heavily involved in the inspection of these parts using PC-DMIS.It was also my duty to raise non-conformances and to liase with manufacturing and planning on parts which had issues. These were mainly new parts which had been put in to production and it became imperative that any errors or discrepancies were dealt with before a high volume of parts were machined.I also became involved in providing data for First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR's) which had to be sent to customers and regularly helped out in writing short programs to check critical dimensions which had been requested by the customer.
