As Policy, Process & Governance Manager I support the Director, HR Operations & Systems in the continuous improvement, and governance of the global starter, leaver and mover processes across the Centrica group. This involves working with managers in all areas of the Group to develop an aligned and consistent global service offering from our HR shared service.Accountabilities:• Act subject matter expert on right to work checks and all matters relating to immigration in the UK including Brexit related changes and the sponsoring of highly skilled migrants• Support the UK Authorising Officer in relation to compliance with our obligations on immigration and act as the company’s primary contact at time of audit• Development and implementation of similar right to work controls and governance across all of Centrica’s global businesses• Development and delivery of a truly global approach to pre-employment background checking of new hires• Policy development and process implementation in relation to right to work, background checking and recruitment support • Developing and driving best practice and continuous improvement processes that can be implemented across our global offices• Seeking out and managing the implementation of innovative technologies that streamline and improve efficiency within our HR shared service teams• Ensuring that data collected as part of these processes is managed within the constraints placed on the group by GDPR and other data privacy legislation applicable outside of the EU

Responsibility for management and delivery across the full UK business of:• Pre-employment checks (circa 4800 cases per year) in accordance with the requirements set out by the Financial Conduct Authority and other regulatory bodies including National Security Vetting where appropriate• Right to work checks• Monitoring existing employees working on time limited visas and ensuring that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the company from illegal workers• Advice and support to managers on the sponsorship of highly skilled migrants• Internal recruitment support to hiring managers and recruiters across the UK business including the processing of circa 3000 hires per year• Maintenance of external supplier relationships in the areas of background checking, HR processing and legal advice• Policy management in the areas of Good Repute, Resourcing and Right to Work

I manage the delivery of all pre-employment checks, including right to work. I'm also accountable for ensuring compliance with all take on processes associated with our non-permanent worker population. This remit applies across all business units within Centrica / British Gas.This involves:• Daily management of a team of compliance specialists• Acting as a subject matter expert providing guidance & support to hiring managers across the business• Managing relationships with external check providers• Working with our in house systems team to develop new tools and processes & supporting change • Providing detailed compliance MI• Conducting audits on the performance of external partners
