I am currently the lead developer for Letterboxd Limited. I still have a specific passion and interest in large scale software performance.Prior to joining Letterboxd Limited full time I worked as a Software Performance Consultant helping a number of software development organisations (including Letterboxd) investigate and improve the performance of their large scale software solutions. My expertise in this area is based on over 20 years experience as a professional software engineer and 4 years full-time study (from 2013 to 2016) researching new approaches to software performance engineering during my PhD at the University of Auckland.Prior to beginning my PhD in February 2013 I had worked for 12 years as a software engineer and development manager at Orion Health. I have extensive experience and expertise in all areas of software development, with a particular focus on large-scale Java web applications. My areas of expertise include architecture, design, implementation, testing, management and delivery. In particular I have spent more than 5 years in a technical leadership role, leading and contributing to the design and development of core framework services for Orion Health's entire software platform as well as reviewing and contributing to the technical design of many other components.Apart from spending many years in an informal leadership and mentoring role with junior developers I have some formal management experience, taking on a Development Unit Manager role at Orion Health for the last 12 months before I began my PhD.
