I spent the last few years working as test equipment assembly technician, however in past positions, I was a full-on manufacturing engineer, who designed and assembled my own automated machinery. I would entertain that type of work again.

McKean is a defense contractor. I maintain an electronics test lab for their client. I redesigned and built over 10 test panels. I am responsible for acquiring lab supplies and associated equipment.

Designed Micro Snow Cleaner system for cleaning fiber optic transistor (FIT) headers. Developed Optical system for centering IC’s on (FIT) TO-46 headers. Designed ESD shipping packages for Fiber Optics Products. Created interactive MS Access database with MPEG training clips for proper package loading. Used Internet to locate machinery and production aids. Wrote and followed ISO9001 procedures.

Split duties between Product Engineering and Manufacturing departments. Designed parts for reels and updated engineering models, product drawings and bills of material using Pro E. Entered machine rates and product routings into MAPICS MRP software. Created MS Access forms for quality dept databases. Evaluated assembly methods for increased efficiency. Worked with Dir. of Mfg to install and plan automation systems.

Assignments: MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - Newton Tool & Die, Woodbury, NJEntered data and converted information from existing MRP system to the IMPACT™ MRP system. Wrote new and revised existing procedures for the MRP system. Reviewed manufacturing procedures and material reporting methods for program compliance. Audited cost overruns, scrap costs, etc. Taught MRP system to office staff. TECHNICAL WRITER / INSTRUCTOR General Physics Corporation, Pottstown, PATaught classes on computer procedures and Customer Service (CS) software to CS staff at PECO Energy. Wrote tests and course matter. Revised and illustrated training manuals for Packaging Mfrs. Machinery Institute. Wrote instructions manuals for customer’s automated machinery.

Designed and built custom automated coil winding machines (21) and a four-station automated sand-blasting machine. Wrote and taught operational, maintenance and setup procedures to mfg. personnel. Procured capital equipment, performed related research and cost justification.

Designed and built 3-flyer stator winding machine. Designed automatic motor magnet gluing system which held magnets in place during cure cycle. Also designed various pneumatic assembly fixtures that checked alignment of end caps eliminating unnecessary QA checks. Developed effective assembly operations and purchased capital equipment. Installed and programmed PLC’s on existing machinery which improved performance and reduced operator interaction.
