Design and development of industrial agitators, in accordance with the specific design codes and standards of the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic and chemical industries, and all types of product processing industries.This role involved:• Design and development of bespoke agitators for tanks and reactors, or in-line for all types of industrial processes.• Management and optimisation of human, technical and material resources.• Study of the feasibility of projects from an economic, operational and strategic point of view, and subsequent decision-making.• Post and pre-sale technical support for the selection and development of products that best suit customer's needs.• Design of equipment affected by the ATEX 2014/34/EU directive and making arrangements to obtain the corresponding certification in accordance with current regulations.• Providing solutions to sales, production and electrical and design engineers, as well as workshop staff.• Equipment validation through CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) fluid behavior simulations and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) mechanical analysis.

Design and development of customised automated fruit and vegetable machinery in accordance with the specific standards and directives of the food and horticultural industry.This role involved:• Design and development of conveyor belts, box dumps, palletisers, fruit and vegetable treatment and washing rafts, dryers, waxers and packaging machines, as well as mechanical and electronic calibrators.• Calculation and sizing of transmissions, gears, structural elements and chassis, brackets, housings and shafts.• Selecting appropriate materials, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motors, geared motors, servomotors, bearings and special components required in each project.• Process automation using all types of sensors and pneumatic components such as linear and rotary actuators, pneumatic selector valves and solenoid valves.• Producing the technical documentation required for each project; manufacturing and assembly drawings, layout drawings, bill of materials (BOM), as well as conceptual design drawings and test reports.• Working with mechanical components and parts suppliers to provide solutions for the various projects.• Supervision of machinery assembly and commissioning of machines.• Liaising with customers throughout the entire design process.

Design and development of industrial vibratory separators and sieves and self-cleaning filters for all types of processing industries in accordance with their respective industry standards and directives, as well as the ISO 9000 quality and quality management standards. This role involved:• Designing new models and prototypes, one of which I had a leading role in designing winning the 2017 Solids Handling Industry Innovation Award, and constant development and improvement of existing machinery models.• Liaising with customers and sales engineers at the conceptual design stage to tailor the machinery and equipment according to their needs and specifications.• Supervising the fabrication, assembly and commissioning of machinery.• Producing the technical documentation required for each project; manufacturing and assembly drawings, installation drawings, bill of materials (BOM), as well as conceptual design drawings and test reports.• Selection of materials, parts and special components, as well as liaising with suppliers for the development and execution of the various projects being carried out.• Modelling (3D) and mechanical analysis (FEA) of manufactured components, parts and mechanisms.

Development of fibre reinforced epoxy composites with improved toughness and high thermal and mechanical performance via the incorporation of rubber-type particles (modifiers), with the objective of being used in real applications in a more efficient manner.This role involved:• 3D modelling and mechanical analysis (FEA) of different elements and components such as composite pressure vessels and external bio claddings to replace traditional building materials such as brick and aluminium (SolidWorks, Ansys).• Manufacturing of the composites samples and preparation of test specimens and prototypes.• Determining the mechanical properties and fracture mechanics using compact tension, lap-shear adhesion, 3-point bending, impact and tensile tests.• Determining the phase structure and thermal properties using Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and Dynamical Mechanical Thermal Analysis (DMTA).• Chemical analysis of polymers and their spectral characterisation using Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).• Examining the fracture surface of the composites and particle dispersion within the epoxy matrix using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
