Papua New Guinea

A temporary General Manager position with KPI to find a new General Manager and improve the focus on production. This was achieved and the new General Manager took control in March 2022.

Singapore

Started with NBPOL based in Singapore looking for new expansion areas and carrying out some consultancy and advisory work. In late 2009 became involved with the acquisition of 3 oil palm projects and in May 2010 became the Group General Manager of these. In May 2011 was promoted to COO overseeing NBPOL's operations in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. 6 sites comprising 82,000 Ha of oil palm under nucleus Estate and Lease Lease Back (LLB), and supporting 42,500 ha of smallholders. 9,000 ha under pasture for beef and 7,700 ha of Sugar and Sugar mill. 12 palm oil mills and associated Kernel crushing plants, 1 CPO refinery in PNG and 1 in Liverpool and a palm oil seed breeding and production unit "Dami Seed"​ in West New Britain". In March 2015 NBPOL became a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime Darby. In June 2015 the CEO of NBPOL took on an advisory role to the CEO of Sime Darby following which the NBPOL board promoted me to CEO NBPOL.Resigned and retired at the end of July 2018.

GM of Hargy Oil Palms Ltd (HOPL), Bialla, West New Britain, Papua New Guinea. Totally responsible for the running, long term planning and developement of the project which included 9,000 Ha nucleus estates, 14,000 Ha of smallholders, 2 x 45 ton per hour mills, own wharf and shipping facilities, 2 x vehicle workshops, construction dept, extensive stores, 9 compounds and +/- 3,000 employees.Reporting to the MD of the parent company S.A SIPEF N.V in Belgium.

Papua New Guinea

Initially posted to Milne Bay Estates, a 6,500 hectare oil palm project, as an Estate Manager. Transferred to a new position as the Training and Development Manager in August 1995. Promoted to Field Manager in April 1996 becoming responsible for the management of the field department, vehicle workshop, transport and field stores (approximately 1,700 staff).In October 1999 transferred to Poliamba Pty Ltd a sister project of 6.000 hectares in New Ireland Province. Again reporting to the General Manager and responsible for the mature field areas, vehicle workshop and central field stores.

Western Australia

Migrated to Australia after evacuating from Bougainville and started work for the Western Australian Department of Agriculture. Initially stationed at Esperance working as an extension and advisory officer covering cereals, sheep, pastures and land conservation. Transferred to Kununurra (Ord River Irrigation Scheme), in July 1991 carrying out advisory and extension work and implementing field trials. Covered around 60 crops from grain legumes to bananas as well as intensive beef production.

Bougainville, Papua New Guinea

Started as Plantation Manager of a 600 Ha Cocoa and Copra plantation at Kunua in North West Bougainville. Later promoted to Group Manager responsible for the management of 3 Cocoa and Copra plantations totalling 2,500 hectares on Bougainville, North Solomon's Province and reporting to the Managing Director. Oversaw the evacuation of all staff and employees from various plantations at the north of the island following the start of the Bougainville Crises.

Papua New Guinea

Initially responsible for 1,000 hectares of mature oil palms and later transferred to a development project in the process of establishing a further 6,000 hectares. In both instances reporting to the Estate Manager.

Various

Held a variety of positions in the UK and overseas (Saudi Arabia, Libya, USA and Yugoslavia). Land and marine seismic, stockman intensive pig unit, security supervision, construction of centre pivot irrigation systems and farm contract work.
