Dr. Maune serves as an associate vice president at Dewberry. He oversees major mapping contracts with USGS and NOAA as well as independent QA/QC contracts with the states of Connecticut, Maine, and Los Angeles County, CA. In 2020, he completed the statewide IFSAR mapping of Alaska. With 58 years of experience, and nationally recognized as the industry’s leading authority on DEMs and LiDAR, Dave is a specialist in LiDAR quality management, enabled by his authorship of the Digital Elevation Model Technologies and Applications: The DEM Users Manual 3rd Edition (2018), USACE Engineering Manual 1110-1-1000, Photogrammetric and LiDAR Mapping (2015), the ASPRS Positional Accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data (2014), FEMA Procedure Memorandum No. 61, Standards for LiDAR and Other High Quality Digital Topography (2010); National Digital Elevation Program (NDEP) Guidelines for Digital Elevation Data (2004); ASPRS Guidelines: Vertical Accuracy Reporting for LiDAR Data (2004); and Appendix A: “Guidance for Aerial Mapping and Surveying,” to FEMA’s Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners (2003). Dave is very experienced at enforcing these key standards, guidelines, and specifications while serving as Quality Manager for Dewberry’s independent QA/QC for dozens of federal, state and local task orders. Dave serves on NOAA’s Hydrographic Services Review Panel (HSRP).
