Not updated:David J McBee is a doctoral candidate in the school of sociology at the University of Arizona. His current dissertation project examines the strategic use of network contacts by individual scientists and scientific research teams as they manage research uncertainties. It is funded through an NSF Grant (#1565607). This project integrates concepts from research on social capital, social networks, organizational learning, innovation, problem-solving, and team science. His graduate coursework at the University of Arizona focused on social networks, quantitative research methodology, statistics, organizational theory, and the sociology of knowledge. These courses are complemented by his comprehensive areas: Statistics, Methods, and Social Networks.Recently, David J McBee and Dr.Erin Leahey published a book chapter 'New Directions New Challenges' in 'Investigating Interdisciplinary Collaboration', edited by Scott Frickel, Mathieu Albert, and Barbara Prainsack, available through Rutgers University Press in November 2016.David earned an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Arizona in 2010, based upon a paper that examined the maintenance of departmental prestige in the field of sociology between 2001 and 2009. Substantively, this paper contributes to research on organizational fields and disciplinary prestige.Methodologically, this paper contributes to the development of fuzzy-set Qualitative Data Analysis (fsQCA) by adapting it to analyze longitudinal data.
