David was a NSW State Champion in 100m and 200m butterfly and a member of the NSW State Team in 1975 and 1977. In 1981 David competed in the Australian Winter short course in the 200m Butterfly and came 5th in the final, swimming a time of 2.05.03. David trained under Dick Caine, John Rodgers, Brian Sutton, Brett Sutton and Kevin Neilson. David also competed in the surf, with Elourea and Cronulla surf clubs and was NSW State Junior belt Champion, an Australian junior belt finalist and was a member of the Elourea Junior Surf Team which came 2nd in the Australia Junior Surf Team Race.David also played Ist Grade Colts and Ist Grade with Port Hacking Rugby Union club.After David’s swimming career finalized, he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Wollongong University and then obtained his Diploma in Law and now is a partner in McCabe Partners Lawyers and practices in the Young office.Principal of Ying Fa Australia David McCabe is the principal behind Ying Fa Australia.David was coaching a squad of swimmers in Young and his sons, Joe and Harry, asked about racing costumes.
