I am the senior partner and National Chair of Private Wealth of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and I am co-Chair of the Global Family Office Practice. My practice is based in New York but our group is now based in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. And as mentioned our Family Office Practice if global. We have over 50 professionals in Private Wealth and over 200 professionals in the Family Office Practice. I specialize in all aspects of estate planning and administration, with emphasis on the development of sophisticated plans for high-net-worth individuals and their families. We have over 15 practice groups that are represented in our Family Office Practice and we provide a full suite of legal services for our almost 90 family office clients. My practice includes the preparation of complex wills, trust agreements and related instruments, the representation of clients in estate tax and gift tax audits, and general counseling of clients in all phases of the administration of decedents’ estates and trusts. For more than 40 years, I have taken a holistic approach to my work, and I excel at guiding my clients through the complexities of estate planning and estate and trust administration. At Willkie, I am able to call upon the expertise of my colleagues in a myriad of practice areas to address the many issues confronted by my clients. I take pride in my and my team’s ability to work collaboratively with a family’s other advisers to craft integrated plans that best serve the needs of each family. Our approach has been tremendously successful for the firm’s clients.I also have experience advising clients on international estate planning. The majority of that work relates to advising non-resident and resident aliens on the U.S. tax aspects of their plans. A growing part of my practice includes the representation of public charities, private foundations and charitable trusts. I have advised directors and trustees of philanthropic organizations on a variety of corporate and tax issues, and I have formed numerous private foundations and public charitable entities. I am a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel and was formerly Chair of the Committee on Trusts, Estates and Surrogate’s Courts of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
