With a background in business development, specialising in property, construction and infrastructure, David has been a key influence in providing direction and leadership for the McConnell family’s business activities.David is the Founder of McConnell Property, which he established in1997, and has had an integral role in the direction of McConnell Property along with the balance of McConnell Group activities.During his career, David has held a number of external governance positions: Director of Mighty River Power, Vodafone Pacific Events Centre, Deputy Chair of the Committee for Auckland, Chairman of the Advisory Board for University of Auckland Business School, NZ Real Estate Institute, Chair of Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), and the Board for Kings College. He was invited, and accepted as a Fellow to the Institute of Professional Engineers. In 2006 David received the Sir Peter Blake Emerging Leadership Award and in 2008, a prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship.David has a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors') from Canterbury University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago.
