David McCourt has experience as an independent Director in a number of government, Not For Profit and private sector organisations. After a sabbatical that coincided with a major geographic relocation, he spent two years as a Director with KPMG Professional Services providing consultancy services to various government agencies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. More recently he provided support to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar as a Risk Advisor, and is currently supporting transformation in Saudi Arabia. He previously led a significant project that shaped current and future Navy Intelligence and cyber capability out to 2030. David has extensive strategic leadership experience across a range of fields of endeavour, including a Directorship at TAFE NSW Riverina Institute where he led a key business line, including a significant cultural and organisational change project. He previously led a niche team of professionals with responsibility for strategic and operational planning of the curriculum; human and physical resource development; infrastructure; and, budgetary aspects of a range of industry portfolios across 19 geographically dispersed campuses. He pursued this vocation for several years following a career as a senior naval officer and professional mariner with broad operational leadership and managerial experience across a wide spectrum of employment areas. These include major and minor warship commands; management of a wide variety of operational activities across a large geographical area; management of a large, geographically diverse service provider organisation; management of a mixed workforce delivering niche training; and, significant project management experience.David has significant experience in leading and managing teams ranging from a multi-skilled workforce of around 1000 integrated service, civilian, contractor and service provider staff to small focused teams with as little as 12 people. David has had leadership and management roles in training and personal development and has experience in workplace relations.In a number of capacities, David has represented both the Royal Australian Navy and the wider Defence force in a number of international fora including successful participation in sensitive, complex negotiations involving a number of Australian and International agencies.
