David McIntosh is a dual degree student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University, with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from American University. He currently interns for Rocketstar and Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) as part of the University Nanosatellite Program (UNP). He also works on the Columbia Space Initiative CubeSat Mission, LIONESS.He has also conducted research on drone flight, Fabry-Pérot Interferometers, carbon fiber lattices, satellite architecture, and radiation exposure, as well as conducting astronomical observations through the ‘Our Solar Siblings’ research program. He has also worked as an intern for NASA Headquarters as part of the Mars Reconnaissance Team, and for Space and Satellite Professionals International (SSPI), in addition to volunteering as an exhibit explainer at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum. David is a recipient of the NASA DC Space Grant Student Achievement Award, as well as a member of the American and Columbia University Dean’s Lists. He has experience working in lab, office, and customer-facing environments, and is proficient with all computer operating systems in addition to the computer programming languages Arduino, Python, Matlab, and Mathematica and the 3-D modeling software Solidworks, Eagle, and Fusion360.
