David completed a B Juris and LLB at the Uni of West Aust in 1979 and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of W.A. in 1980, and then admitted to the High Court of Aust in 1983. He commenced practice at the Legal Aid Comm and then joined Jackson McDonald where he became a partner in July 1989. David became a founding partner of Jarman McKenna in 2003, resigning in August 2016.David commenced as a partner with Mills Oakley in Perth in August 2016 and ceased on 30 September 2022 to take up a position as Senior Solicitor Claims Advisory at the Suncorp Group.David has been in practice for 41 years and for 34 years practiced solely in insurance litigation.  His practice has included the areas of Property, Professional Indemnity, major transport and public liability, including a major asbestos liability practice.David has had a significant practice in the area of professional indemnity insurance acting for financial advisors, real estate agents, nursing homes, architects and engineers, and dealing with a wide range of issues from unfair dismissal to major construction liability claims.  He is regarded as a leader in insurance litigation in the State.He has appeared regularly in the District, Supreme, Federal and High Court and has been involved in a number of significant landmark cases involving local council liability and public liability.He has been an advisor to the Insurance Council of Aust, and been called upon by govt to provide advice and input in relation to changes in legislation.David was awarded life membership of the Australia Insurance Law Association in 2015, having been a member of AILA for 26 yrs, a member of the exec com of the Board for 15 yrs and a past national President of AILA.David was voted a preeminent Professional Indemnity Lawyer in West Aust and also voted a leading Dust Diseases Lawyer in West Australia.David has been a member of AIDA and participated in the Climate Change, Civil Liability, motor Vehicle and Reinsurance working parties.
