Chosen as one of 10 out of 1,000+ applicants to take part in the "Y Combinator" of the charity world. This program is a two month intensive course aimed at developing the skills and knowledge needed to successfully develop and run a high impact non-profit.

Responsible for managing and delivering a portfolio of outsourced drug substance development and manufacturing projects, totalling over £20M in spend and spanning pre-clinical to phase 3. Working with contract research organisations to ensure successful project outcomes and build strong supplier relationships. Additionally, during my time in this role I set-up and ran an internal organisation that taught over 750 colleagues at AZ the basics of coding in Python and R.

Placement 3 - Engineering Project Associate Project manager for multiple capital investment projects delivering state of the art formulation facilities for AstraZeneca.Placement 2 - Sourcing Project Associate Worked with contract manufacturing organisations to deliver numerous drug substance and analytical outsourcing activities, supporting programs from lead optimisation through to on-market. Placement 1 - Computational Chemistry Supported chemical development activities for our fast moving portfolio through in-silico experimentation (Gaussian, Maestro, COSMOtherm). Developed risk assessment tools to predict racemisation of APIs and key intermediates.

Alongside gaining valuble experience withinin the pharmecutical industry I delievered a project investigating and optomising lab-scale slurry transfer. During my 10 week placement some important learning points and contributions I made included the following:-Designing and performing experiments to investigate lab-scale slurry transfer, leading to suggestions of ways to optimise the process-Developing a simple approach to build a database of reaction and mixing vessels at CMO's to aid with outsourcing and scale up-Gaining an appreciation of the drug development timeline

As part of a small team working on developing new cancer treatments I had to adapt and learn quickly about an area of science which was unfamiliar to me in order to contribute to the inspiring work the team was doing. My key contributions include:-Fixing a broken tangential flow filtration machine, saving the lab having to buy a replacement-Learning and subsequently performing techniques such as western blot analysis and cell culturing -Aiding in developing a method to assess the efficacy of a novel radiosensitizer
