Manage team of communications, social media, design, and education experts responsible for disseminating the results of NOAA and partner ocean exploration expeditions.

The Ocean Exploration Advisory Board (OEAB) provides advice and consultation to NOAA leadership on ocean exploration matters. Serve as designated federal officer for this Federal Advisory Committee Act board comprised of senior representatives from government, the private sector, and academia. Work closely with the OEAB chair to plan meetings, arrange briefings and reports, and facilitate OEAB operations.

Seattle

As a member of the NOAA Ocean Exploration and Research program leadership team, advise the director on strategic direction, investments, and partnerships. Negotiate agreements with international and domestic partners. Support the Ocean Exploration Advisory Board (see separate entry).

Led U.S. delegations to UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission working group meetings on Indian Ocean and Global Tsunami Warning Systems. Helped negotiate with member states for common standards and protocols on tsunami warning. Participated in IOC Assembly meetings as U.S. delegation member.

Seattle, Southeast Asia

Designed cross-NOAA and cross-U.S. government programs and activities to demonstrate elements of an effective end-to-end tsunami warning system in the Indian Ocean. Negotiated and partnered with USAID to deliver projects on time and within budget. Negotiated bi-lateral agreements with Thai and Indonesian counterpart agencies. Organized and conducted technology transfer seminars. Collaborated on new methodologies to promote coastal community resilience, including "How Resilient is your Coastal Community? A guide to evaluating coastal community resilience to tsunamis and other hazards," a guide later adapted for use in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Jakarta

Served as liaison between American Embassy Jakarta and NOAA programs working with Indonesian partner agencies (science and technology, ocean research, fisheries, meteorology, tsunami warning). Developed science and technology partnerships, formal bi-lateral agreements, research permit and other permissions to support the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer expedition (INDEX SATAL) to Indonesia in 2010--the first time the Indonesian government had granted a permit to a U.S. government civilian research vessel to operate in Indonesian waters. With its counterpart BPPT and its ship Baruna Jaya IV, the Okeanos Explorer conducted the first-ever deep water exploration of the waters in the Sangihe Talaud region.
