David McKinzie was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Michael and Michelle McKinzie. Growing up in Memphis, David has developed an old, unique soul. As a child, David was introduced to a great amount of old school Stax and Motown records. He credits his parents for such an old, mature soul as they unintentionally developed his musical ear every day.He plays the electric bass guitar primarily and has been granted a great amount of opportunities so far. David has performed along with Kirk Whalum, Dee Dee Bridgewater, George Clinton, Sam Moore, and Booker T. Jones just to name a few. David graduated from Berklee College of Music on a full tuition scholarship. He studied Professional Music with a concentration in music business, performance, and production.David plans to continue his pursuit in the music career and soon establish his own band. David will act as the musical director of his professional house band, which will contain many versatile aspects, similar to the Roots Band. He has huge goals and dreams to achieve and do not see anyone/anything hindering him any time soon.
