In my role, I spearhead R&D and Business initiatives, significantly contributing to business growth and fostering strategic partnerships across multiple sectors, including Utilities (Gas, Water, Electricity), Renewables, and Construction. My key responsibilities encompass scouting new business opportunities, crafting compelling proposals and bids, and negotiating contracts. I develop forward-thinking strategies to broaden our market footprint, enhancing our competitive edge. I also manage and nurture relationships with vital stakeholders, ensuring the maintenance of a dynamic and robust business development pipeline. Additionally, I play a crucial role in overseeing project execution to ensure that all deliverables met the high standards set by ULC, thereby reinforcing our commitment to excellence.

United Kingdom

The Executive Board acts as a steering group to Council, streamlining many institution decisions and monitoring overall performance against targets. One of my main focus areas on the Board was to represent the Young Persons Network and act as a voice that ensures the institution is fit for the future.

Scotland

As Chair I was responsible for the conduct and supervision of all the Scottish Section’s activities. This included the delivery of industry events and social activities, succession planning of committee officers and ensuring value was being added to IGEM members across the section. I was also responsible for reporting the sections activities to IGEM’s Council who are responsible for the overall governance of the Institution. In this role I sat on IGEM Council who meet on a quarterly basis and kept them informed of the sections work.

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Responsible for the operational performance, strategy and growth of the gas distribution network in Edinburgh. Process areas include Repair and Replacement (over 60 employees) with focus aimed towards safety, customer satisfaction, project delivery and outperformance.

Accountable for the management, governance and development of solutions to engineering problems using new or existing technologies, through innovation, creativity and change. I had technical and financial responsibility for a large multimillion pound innovation project portfolio. These projects were managed by PM’s who reported directly to me and the projects seek to advance the UK gas/energy industry and delivering value back to our customers and shareholders. In addition to the above, I also managed a £2m flagship project entitled iCore, which advanced keyhole technology and minimised disruption of operational activities. Other responsibilities included budgeting, contracts, learning dissemination and engagement with project partners and key internal and external stakeholders.
