In this role, I integrated multiple control system models into a closed-loop simulation environment for testing ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features. I built test scenarios using CarMaker and MATLAB/Simulink to verify the software model functionality. I also led the development of an automated workflow using Jenkins, Github, and Python to test updated software components on remote machines and generate test results, saving engineers a significant amount of time and reducing their workloads. I was the Jenkins subject matter expert for the team, providing guidance to other engineers to help automate their workflows.

As a Research Engineer at Ford, I led research projects to investigate new technologies and applied systems engineering principles to make them production-ready. I worked with stakeholders to define use cases and requirements, research and recommend technologies, analyze failure modes, and develop intellectual property, all while acting as project manager. My research focused on using Bluetooth Low Energy and other wireless technology to enable vehicle access from smartphones. I led the system integration and failure mode analysis for this technology, contributing to successful application readiness, and filed 5 patent applications related to the technology.

At Ricardo, I was a hands-on engineer, responsible for software and electrical system development for a variety of projects. I did everything from modeling control algorithms in Simulink to designing wire harnesses to building and integrating rapid prototype systems into vehicles. Key projects include:- Led team to develop software architecture and control strategies for testing military aircraft landing gear motor assembly.- Designed and integrated electrical system, software and wire harness for a production ABS/ESC system for a military vehicle.- Developed software strategy for autonomous vehicle steering, braking and throttle control and installed and integrated into a fleet of 5 proof-of-concept vehicles.- Designed and programmed graphical user interface and SAE-compliant control software for electric vehicle charging stations, leading to over $1 million in new business.
