Responsibilities included: Communication and Presentation Skills – Delivery of Bible talks and training to large groups (180+), as well as frequent smaller seminar style presentations using a variety of visual mediums and presentation techniques. Regular chairing of meetings, conflict resolution and strong interpersonal communication required as part of the role. Mentoring and Character development - mentoring relationships with the purpose of character training, aiming to develop personal characteristics as well as leadership and interpersonal skills. Volunteer Management and Training – Leadership and oversight of large teams including responsibility for the recruitment and training of youth program volunteer leaders (approx. 35 individuals). Training included skills in leadership, group management, administration, child safety, presentation skills and creative communication. Event planning – overseeing of logistics and programming for weekly youth groups (100+ youth); conference and camp directing as well as organization of fundraising events. Administration and Organisational skills –proficient use of Mac and Windows operating systems and Office Suite; oversight of volunteer rostering; implementation of church-wide database (Elvanto); social media co-ordinator for youth programs; church website administrator (Wordpress); attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously; strong time management skills. Teamwork – the youth / young adults role was part of a large staff team where communication and teamwork were highly valued and contributed to the functioning of a church of 800 members. Weekly team meetings involved reporting, delegation and strategic planning. Teamwork amongst volunteer leaders was also actively fostered, modelled and encouraged.
