Welcome! I am David Menezes, an undergraduate student and researcher at the University of Connecticut, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Astrophysics. My passion for physics emerged at a very young age and has continued to grow through my experiences at the University of Connecticut. Complex problem-solving and leadership have consistently been my strong suits.I am currently serving as an undergraduate researcher under Dr. Jonathan Trump, a role I have held since my second semester at the University of Connecticut. My research primarily focuses on the dynamics of black holes. I am presently conducting a project that analyzes the scales of Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) quasars using photometric continuum reverberation mapping (RM). My previous research has included the analysis of variability in SDSS spectroscopic broad emission-line data from luminous quasars and the evolutionary dynamics of spin 1/2 chains, specifically configurations with one and two excitations, using both classical and quantum computers.Thank you for reading!

Astrophysics Undergraduate Researcher
CurrentMy current project focuses on analyzing the scales of Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) quasars measured from photometric continuum reverberation mapping (RM). Throughout the project, we noted that continuum photometry sufficiently contaminated by emission lines from the Broad- Line Region (BLR) may map sizes more indicative of the BLR. Photometric BLR map- ping of select quasars could be pivotal in the future through Rubin/LSST, allowing less expensive determination of black hole mass. All done under UCONN grad student Hugh Sharp and Professor Jonathan Trump.

A total of 2 courses, lasting the near-entirety of the Sophomore Summer Bridge program & the normal incoming freshman Bridge Summer Program started in July.
