I work on novel methods to control mosquitoes in order to prevent the transmission of vector-borne infectious diseases such as malaria. This research includes labwork in the Netherlands and fieldwork in East Africa.Keywords: behavioural ecology, chemical ecology, mosquitos, vector-borne diseases

As a tour leader for SNP I have the privilege to share with other people the beauty and wonders of nature.

April 2012 and March - April 2014 Urban gardening workshops in Amsterdam.September - October 2011 Supervisor / coach to BSc. students during the Introduction Environmental Sciences course.May 2008 - May 2011 Aquatic ecology workshops: nature excursion and practical for secondary schools students at Wageningen University.

Adventurous multi-activity tours for small groups throughout Europe. I mainly worked for the Scandinavian destinations. The work included driving a minibus, planning walks, outdoor activities, camping, communication with local providers and generally taking care of the well-being of the participants.

Nijmegen Area, Netherlands

The New Thracian Gold project stimulates nature development & ecotourism in southeast Bulgaria. Together with local team members I worked to create an inventory of important natural, cultural and historical sites within the project area. This work led to the publication of the Eastern Rhodopes Tourist Map with 2500 copies in March 2011.

A student team coordinates the Wageningen University Information Days. My responsibility was the fluent entrance and welcome of 1000+ visitors at three different locations. The work involved much planning and communication with different groups within the organization and leading a team of 18 other students at the Information Day itself.

As a projectionist in Cinemec I was responsible for playing around 15-20 films an evening in 8 cinemas. Besides playing, making up / taking down films and maintaining the projectors I introduced films to our guests with short presentations before the start of the program.

Through 'teaching' youngsters in Batticaloa (Sri-Lanka’s East coast) were brought into contact with another civilization. An impressing experience which ended too soon as I had to leave when the civil-war heated up again, forcing me to travel through safer parts this beautiful country.

Driving a camper-van around Australia, at the age of 18. Together with a friend, I spend nine months of working on fruit plantations, farms and enjoying backpacker-life. An experience-packed period of freedom and independence; learning about life and myself in ways that would not be possible by regular work or education.
