David is the Chief Financial Officer of the London International Exhibition Centre PLC Group of companies. The Group includes the London ExCeL Centre, the Business Design Centre (Islington), the Aloft Hotel London and the Hilton DoubleTree at ExCeL as well as RED Western Gateway property development (JV with Mount Anvil Properties). Ultimately owned by Modon Holding through an Abu Dhabi based sovereign wealth Fund, the Group is ambitious to grow its assets within and outside its 110 acre campus in the Royal Victoria Docks. David is a Chartered Accountant and, in addition to his Financial skills, is considered to be an expert in strategy development, strategy execution and organisational effectiveness. In his CFO role, David also has responsibility for managing the property development and investment assets on the Excel campus on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Wealth fund shareholders. David is a former Partner of BDO (15 years), RSM and Ecovis Wingrave Yeats. His extensive practical experience of strategic finance, leadership and management has been supported by business education at both Wharton (the Advanced Management Program) and Harvard (Leading Professional Service Firms) in the USA. He has a particular interest in what motivates people to succeed in the workplace and the influence of culture on corporate performance.In the last 5 years, David has gained extensive experience in Real Estate Development including leading 2 successful acquisitions (totalling £150m), a property extension (cost £230m) , a residential development of 850 homes and 3 separate re-financings (value £230m).
