He heads up a Judo teaching business based in Glasgow and Edinburgh that offers expert coaching to children of all ages and abilities. David has experience in identifying talent in youngsters and developing judo skills through a pathway of school to club to performance institute/talent development. He believes the humble nature of Judo mixed with it's physically demanding attributes can help to produce great athletes with a true understanding of sport and it's culture.

Our vision is to create a culture where the wealth of the community is judged on the healthof the community.The Secretary is a pivotal role within the charity and with the assistance of the Operations Manager, David provides the main point of contact for people within and outside the charity on just about every aspect of the charity’s activities. It is a demanding, high profile role that has a major impact on the efficient and effective management of the charity.The duties that are involved in the job are:• To be the ‘principal administrator’ for the club, dealing with all club correspondence, distributing to relevant officers for response where required.• To prepare and distribute the Board meeting Agendas.• Keep the Minutes of all Board meetings and distribute copies.• Keep signed copies of all meeting minutes on file.• To carry out or delegate all of the administrative duties thereby enabling the club and its members to function effectively.• Membership liaison alongside the Operations Manager.• Committee support.• To liaise with Convenor, Finance Director & Corporate Funding Director to ensure that appropriate funding streams are identified and accessed to support charity activity.• To lead discussion in the local community and with partners around outreach activities and use of the facility for external groups.• To lead on implementation of internal and external training for coaches and other volunteers of all Movement Park sporting activity infrastructures.• Work with the rest of the Board to set and implement the charity's direction and strategy. David provides support and development opportunities for the Judo Scotland affiliated clubs in the West of Scotland (that operate within the West's regional Sporting Partnership), to raise the capacity and capability to deliver a quality judo provision leading into and following the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014.

At the Edinburgh club David was in charge of the planning, coordination and delivery of all classes for the junior members. This also involved school visits and after school clubs, in order to increase the participation in judo in the area.
