Responsibilities include • Port Operations including Marine, Ship to Shore Cargo & Harbour Operations • Major Capital Projects • Waste Management & Recycling • Facilities Management • Hydroponics • Fuel Services • Plant • Repairs & Maintenance • Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing • Motor Transport • Sea and Land Rescue Services • Street Scene and Event Support. Also appointed as Government Health and Safety Inspector, Planning Officer and a Member of the Harbours Board.Role also includes developing strategic plans and leading major projects funded by UK Government.Since starting this post, I have reconfigured the Directorate strategy, updated Marine and Port compliance, improved fleet resilience, boosted morale, empowered team working, improved PR and comms (both with the public but also key partners on island), and deployed immediate and long-term improvement projects across the island. All this has resulted in tangible results and enhanced efficiency, including a ground-breaking recycling scheme between St Helena and Ascension.This role requires strong partnership working with diverse organisations like FCDO, MOD, RAF, UK Stratcom, US Space Force and the various contractors who act for those organisations.
